The Mining and Geological Survey of Hungary and its partners, the Research Institute of Applied Earth Sciences, University of Miskolc (AFKI) and the Institute for Nuclear Research, Hungarian Academy of Sciences (ATOMKI) have won a GINOP fund to improve the research infrastructure of the region, to establish an international network and to develop the core storage and paleontological collection center in Rákóczitelep (Nógrád County, NE Hungary) so that it becomes an up-to-date working place and laboratory.
The new research center will help the work of researchers from all over the world with a new core preparation and examination room and a modern lab. Researchers will have access to approximately 200,000 paleontological specimens, 1,239 boreholes, 32,890 core boxes and 298,778 m core material. The lab and three comfortable accomodation rooms will make it possible to stay for longer periods.
